The Department of Dairy Technology, University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS), Lahore, in collaboration with the Department of Livestock and Dairy Development, Punjab (L&DD), conducted a five-day hands-on training on frozen and fermented dairy products”, as part of the project “Capacity Building of Dairy Farmers and Industry Actors Across the Milk Value Chain” at the city campus here.
The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Nasim Ahmad, presided over the closing ceremony and distributed certificates to the participants, while the Additional Director General of the Punjab Food Authority, Mustafa Dogar, the Project Manager, Dr. Muhammad Junaid and 15 participants/professionals from the public and private sector dairy industries were present.
Professor Nasim Ahmad said linking universities and industries is a key way to boost the dairy industry in Pakistan.
He commended the organizers for organizing the workshop on an informative topic, especially for capacity building of dairy professionals.
Various aspects were discussed during the event related to the scope of the frozen and fermented dairy products market, technological aspects of ice cream manufacturing, hygiene, cleaning and sanitation of the dairy plant. processing of fermented dairy products, recent advances in fermented dairy products and factory management, packaging, storage and the distribution circuit of frozen dairy products, the evaluation of the quality of dairy products at added value, labeling requirements for frozen and fermented dairy products and regulations on frozen and fermented dairy products, etc.
