Owner of Greenery Creamery opens Filipino ice cream and bakery shop in Mills 50

EDIT: Marie Mercado is co-owner of Greenery Creamery and shared this statement in response to our article: “It’s not just me behind this project! I am co-owner and it is the magic of the whole team that brings this project to life.

Marie Mercado, the genius behind the successful ice cream shop, Greenery Creamery (Facebook | Website), is opening a new Filipino dessert shop in the Mills 50 District.

Mercado has confirmed to Bungalower via email that it will be opening a sister concept to Greenery Creamery called, Sampaguita (instagram | Website) who will serve her Filipino desserts using flavors like ube, mango, pandan, and jackfruit, in vegan and dairy options.

Sampaguita, or Jasmine sambac, is a type of jasmine and is the national flower of the Philippines, and symbolizes purity, simplicity and strength.

The concept started as a pop-up and will continue with periodic pop-up events in the new space until they open the new location in late summer/early fall, so so they can try out new recipes like the “halo halo” funnel cake shown below.

Sampaguita will be located next to Mamak Asian Street Food at 1233 E. Colonial Drive [GMap], right next to the new Haan Coffee Roasters, which we were telling you about HERE Last week.
