There will be ice cream in East Hampton Village this summer. Prepare this homemade ice cream.

The departure of Scoop du Jour on Newtown Lane in December of last year left the village without an ice cream establishment for the first time in 26 years. Today, A La Mode Shoppe, an allergy-free, small-batch artisanal ice cream company, announced that it will occupy the once popular Scoop du Jour retail space starting this spring.

The husband and wife team of Marc and Sandy Roth are the founders of the company, which launched in 2015 with a flagship ice cream parlor on East 55th Street in Manhattan. The Newtown Lane retail space will be its second.

On the A La Mode website, the Roths describe their brand: “As longtime ice cream lovers, we didn’t want kids or adults with nut allergies to live in a world where they couldn’t. enjoy the delicious treat of some sweet, delicious ice cream – so we did something about it.

Made in a state-of-the-art factory in the Bronx, A La Mode ice cream is guaranteed to be 100% nut-free, egg-free and sesame-free. The company also offers gluten-free and dairy-free options.

The range of flavors includes classics such as vanilla and chocolate, as well as a few more unusual: blue cotton candy ice cream with mini marshmallows, oat latte, pink vanilla and rose ice cream. There is also an assortment of fruity sorbets.

According to the website, A La Mode is the only ice cream product that the New York City school system allows students to bring into schools.

“At A La Mode, we pride ourselves on being inclusive and mindful of the growing number of people with allergies today. Our goal is to provide children and adults with the delicious, joyful and safe experience of sharing ice cream together, ”Ms. Roth said in a press release. East Hampton is “a perfect location for our first business outside of New York.”

The Newtown Lane store will also have a boutique for baby and children’s clothing, toys and gifts.
