The Dairy Bar on Main, which opened on February 12, offers a wide variety of deli sandwiches and ice cream to its customers.
When Rebecca and Chris Gentry had the idea of opening their own restaurant in the town of Louisa, they decided to do it for their grandchildren.
“We want them to have a place to go to eat and eat ice cream. Louisa needed a deli and we provided it,” said Rebecca Gentry.
Sandwiches range from cold cut Italian to hot ham and cheese with options to customize. If sandwiches aren’t your thing, ice cream is always an option. Customers can choose from specialty ice cream combinations such as Brown Swiss and Guernsey, or they can create their own sundae.
“I spend a lot of time in Louisa and The Dairy Bar is my new favorite place to grab a bite of something salty and sweet,” said Spotsylvania resident Rachel Blocksom. “The Reuben is my favorite sandwich and the ice cream nachos are to die for.”
Outdoor seating is available for those wishing to take advantage of the warm weather and indoor seating is available for rainy days. Families can also take their children to the playground just steps from the Louisa Baptist Church.
“We feel the company has brought the community together. It allows people to come together around great food. It gives us a sense of unity,” Gentry said.
The Dairy Bar on Main is open daily except Tuesdays. On Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, they are open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. On Friday and Saturday they are open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
“The Dairy Bar is exactly what Louisa needs as a local restaurant,” Blocksom said.
The Dairy Bar is located at 307 East Main Street.
