Hiland dairy products recognized as the “best of the best”

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Hiland Dairy Foods Company, a leading farmer-owned dairy company, is pleased to announce that the company received 16 awards in dairy product categories during the 2018 World Dairy Dairy Competition. Expo (WDE). The dairy swept the cultured milk category winning all three awards in the 1% category of buttermilk (production from Norman, Oklahoma), cultured milk (production from Memphis, Tennessee) and Bulgarian buttermilk (production from Fort Smith , Arkansas).

Hiland Dairy won all three awards in the Cultured Milk category for 1% Buttermilk (Norman, Oklahoma production), Cultured Milk (Memphis, Tennessee production) and Bulgarian Buttermilk (Fort Smith, Arkansas production ). The dairy also won four awards for dips and sour cream produced at the plant in Omaha, Nebraska.

Being recognized with multiple WDE awards supports this goal.”

This year’s contest, sponsored by the Wisconsin Dairy Products Assn. (WDPA), received a near-record 1,402 entries for cheese, butter, fluid milk, yogurt, cottage cheese, ice cream, sour cream, sorbet, cultured milk, dips sour cream, whipping cream, whey and creative/innovative products from dairy processors across North America. “This year’s competition has once again exceeded all expectations,” said Brad Legreid, executive director of the Wisconsin Dairy Products Association, which organizes the annual World Dairy Expo Championship dairy competition. “As the only dairy competition of its kind, this special event promotes the entire dairy industry and its wide range of nutritious and tasty dairy products. Everyone benefits from this competition, including 1st place winners, all participating businesses, food banks and college students pursuing a career in dairy This competition is a complete win-win for everyone in the dairy industry.
