Government Expands Scope of Transportation and Marketing Assistance Program, Adds Dairy Products

The government on Friday broadened the scope of the transport and marketing assistance program (TMA) for certain agricultural products by including dairy products in its jurisdiction and by increasing the aid rates.

Enhanced assistance under the revised program is expected to help India’s agricultural exporters cope with rising freight and logistics costs, the Ministry of Trade and Industry said in a statement. Under the TMA, the government reimburses a certain part of the transport costs and provides support for the marketing of agricultural products. It was launched in 2019 to boost exports of these raw materials to certain countries in Europe and North America.

The device has been extended until March 31, 2022.

“Now, the Ministry of Commerce has notified a revised TMA for the regime of specified agricultural products for exports made from April 1, 2021 until March 31, 2022. The existing regime will remain in effect for exports made until March 31, 2022. March 2021. ”says the ministry.

Dairy products, which were not covered by the previous scheme, will now be eligible for aid, he said, adding that aid rates have been increased, by 50% for exports by sea. and 100% by air.

The program was introduced to provide assistance for the international freight component, to alleviate the inconvenience of higher freight costs faced by Indian exporters of agricultural products.

It was initially applicable to exports made from March 1, 2019 to March 31, 2020 and was subsequently extended until March 31, 2021.

The General Directorate of Foreign Trade (DGFT) will soon notify the procedure for appealing to the revised regime.
