Cold stone vegan ice cream? Yes please.

We’ve got the scoop on this year’s hottest (coldest?) New dessert. That’s right, Cold Stone Creamery kicks off 2022 with its very first vegan ice cream.

The ice cream chain has partnered with Danone North America and its Silk brand to launch Silk Chocolate Almondmilk frozen dessert.

As part of the launch, the new flavor is part of the chain’s latest frozen concoction: Don’t Cry Over Spilled Silk. The new menu item includes vegan chocolate ice cream from Silk, bananas, peanut butter and toasted almonds.

Cold Stone previously only offered vegan sherbet flavors like strawberry, pineapple, peach, mango, and pink lemonade. The ice cream chain offers a variety of plant-based toppings, such as nuts, fruit, Oreo crumbles, chips, pretzels, and chocolate syrup. The stores also carry a vegan sugar cone.

Cold Stone launches vegan ice cream

The decision to include more vegan offerings is in line with growing consumer demand for herbal products. In particular, the popularity of plant-based milk has fueled the growth of other categories of vegan dairy products, including ice cream.

The non-dairy ice cream market was valued at over $ 500 million in 2019. The industry has a compound annual growth rate of 13.7%, according to a 2020 study by market research firm Allied. Market Research. Growing awareness of the health effects of dairy products and an increase in the number of people with lactose intolerance have been cited as factors contributing to growth.

Cold Stone isn’t the first dairy-centric ice cream company to embrace vegan options. Following the release of its dairy-free strawberry streusel in 2021, Baskin-Robbins launched its second flavor of vegan oat milk ice cream. The Dairy Free Salted Fudge Bar features a base of oat milk and salty dark chocolate ice cream with chunks of fudge and chocolate fudge swirls.

Oat milk flavors have joined Baskin-Robbins’ growing line of dairy-free offerings since launching their first vegan ice cream in 2019. Other plant-based flavors include chocolate chip cookie dough, Chocolate Extreme and Non-Dairy Coffee Caramel Chunk.

Other companies are getting into the frozen treats business. Last year, KFC China launched three varieties of Oatly non-dairy ice cream: strawberry, chocolate and a soft latte flavored ice cream. Even Ghirardelli finally offers scoops of vegetable ice cream. The chocolate company launched vegan vanilla ice cream from the plant-based frozen dessert brand Coconut Bliss.
