If you love going to the State Fair, you’re probably familiar with the ice cream offerings, and this year you’ll have the opportunity to vote for a new flavor.
ST PAUL, Minnesota — A first annual sign of spring has arrived in Minnesota with the return of the “fairground flavor.” After the pandemic suspended public competition for the past two years, Midwest Dairy is once again asking ice cream lovers to vote for one of three new concoctions to add to its 2022 Minnesota State Fair menu.
Fans can vote until April 15 to choose which malt or sundae flavor will be made and sold exclusively at the Dairy Goodness Bar in the Dairy Building during this year’s Great Minnesota Get-Together.
Minnesota Dairy Farmers want the public’s help in choosing a new malt and sundae from the following selection of three flavor combinations:
Lime crumble: This flavor will transport you to your own personal beach, right at the state fairgrounds. A rich vanilla or malt ice cream topped with lime syrup and graham cracker crumbs provides the perfect combination of sweet and tart.
Cinn-a-Minn Latte: Wake up and smell the ice cream, Minnesota. This creamy vanilla or malt ice cream is topped with cinnamon and espresso powder to satisfy your coffee cravings, as well as your sweet tooth.
Chocolate Cookie Crumble: This craving-worthy concoction will keep chocolate lovers coming back for more. Chocolate cookie crumbs sit on top of rich creamy chocolate ice cream or malt drizzled with chocolate syrup, creating the ultimate chocolatey triple threat. And that’s how the cookie crumbles.
Until Friday, April 15, dairy lovers can visit MidwestDairy.com/MNFair to vote for the flavor of the fair. Visitors are encouraged to share their choice online with the hashtag #DairyGoodnessFlavor. The winning addition will be announced in the coming months.
Last year, due to the pandemic, the fair’s flavor, “You Betcha Berry”, was selected by Midwest Dairy staff and included vanilla ice cream or malt topped with strawberries, raspberries and blueberries. Other previous fair flavors include “Birthday Batter Blast” in 2019, “C’est plus comme ça” in 2018, “Pie in the Sky” in 2017, “Call it Breakfast” in 2016 and “Salted Caramel Puff “, the inaugural flavor of the fair in 2015.
During this year’s Minnesota State Fair, visitors will once again be able to suggest Flavor of the Fair 2023 combinations while enjoying this year’s winning creation. The Dairy Goodness Bar, located in the Dairy Building at the Minnesota State Fair (corner of Judson and Underwood), will have a location where visitors can write their own suggestions. This year’s state fair runs from August 25 to September 5.
