Carter Wong designs multicultural yogurt drink packaging and branded makeover for Bio Green Dairy

London-based design firm Carter Wong’s rebranding and packaging for Bio Green Dairy helped the Middlesex-based producer instantly enter the market with an extensive product line of real fruit yogurt smoothies and fruit drinks. Asian-inspired Lassi yogurt.

One of the joys of living in a multicultural Britain is the variety of delicious ethnic food and drinks available on the main street. Spearheading this crossover is boutique producer Bio Green Dairy, which introduced its authentic Lebanese-style drinkable yogurt to the UK in 1988 and has just added a series of exotic Lassis fruits to its portfolio of genuine quality products. Carter Wong’s packaging designs for the range combine Eastern and Western influences, grabbing attention with colorful Bollywood-inspired discs and Indian motifs based on traditional henna designs.

At the center of Lassi packaging and other Bio Green Dairy product lines is a new brand identity featuring a revitalized “Edna” the cow. Edna’s new lease of life comes from a redesigned illustration that gives her an energetic bounce, dashing tail, and udder play (previously omitted). She now happily jumps to the brand’s name, itself reworked with a hand-drawn font. The white milk cow sits (or jumps) on all Bio Green Dairy ranges, inverted in any color appropriate to the range or product in question.

A revamp of Bio Green’s core line of rich yogurt and real fruit drinks by Carter Wong provided another opportunity to put Edna in the spotlight. Here, we see her frolic on large graphic patterns of strawberries, raspberries, cherries, bananas and peaches. A ‘shake and savor’ cowbell completes the theme with good humor, along with Carter Wong’s naming ideas for mouthwatering flavors: bionic banana, cheeky cherry, cheerful peach, racy raspberry, and savory strawberry. Against a white background, the result is a product that has a joie de vivre with a strong impact on the shelves.

As part of the overall brand overhaul, Carter Wong aligned Bio Green Dairy’s established and popular line of Middle Eastern products. Their Lassi Ayran drinkable yogurt and Lebanese-style labneh yogurt, made in small batches according to traditional recipes, are established staples among Middle Eastern consumers in the UK. The redesign was scalable. The packs retain their fresh color palette of light green and pale blue, but ‘Edna’ is now the central field and the colors have been reinterpreted as universally understood symbols of freshness and well-being: green pastures and a sky. sunny populated with daisies and butterflies. With such attractiveness, the line is now able to extend its market penetration through supermarkets and non-specialized outlets.
